Treasury starts transferring home renovation subsidies

The Hungarian Treasury is transferring the first subsidies on Tuesday as part of the government's new home renovation support scheme, Minister for Families Katalin Novák said on Tuesday, according to a report by Hungarian news agency MTI.

The first 17 families will receive an average amount of HUF 1 million in subsidies, the minister said.

More than 210 families have already submitted applications for the home renovation subsidies, Novák said.

The government launched home renovation subsidies up to HUF 3 mln, covering half of project costs, for families with at least one child from the start of 2021. It rolled out subsidized loans to cover the other half of project costs from February 1.

Novák said earlier the home renovation support could cost the budget HUF 150 billion-170 billion.
