Duna House said homebuyers brought purchases forward in March, ahead of the general election on April 3, which resulted in slower sales in the first half of the month.
The company estimated mortgage outlays climbed over 10% to HUF 120 billion, supported by the National Bank of Hungary's Green Home Program which offers cheap credit for energy-efficient dwellings.
In January-April, home sales fell 7% year-on-year to 51,067.
