About 18% favored introducing some restrictions on Airbnb-type rentals, while 23% said no restrictions were needed.

Just over 4,500 people participated, representing 21% of eligible voters in the district.

Böröcz said the district council would draft regulations based on residents’ views and an impact study.

Other Budapest districts are also considering measures governing short-term rentals. District XIII recently consulted residents, although the results have not yet been announced.

The District VIII council is expected to decide on short-term rental regulations later in October.
