This greenfield investment, valued at HUF 8 billion, was ceremonially inaugurated on November 8, 2024, in the presence of pharmaceutical supply experts, public figures, and company leaders and employees.
Phoenix Pharma’s goal with this new logistics center is to ensure the long-term, continuous, safe, and high-standard pharmaceutical supply for pharmacies, hospitals, and, indirectly, the public. The storage and distribution of medicines will be supported by innovative warehouse technology, which will further shorten the time between order placement and delivery.
“Phoenix Pharma is a key pharmaceutical wholesale company in Hungary, now delivering every second box of medicines to pharmacies. Among our six logistics centers, the Győr center supplies medicines to the pharmacies and hospitals of the Northern Transdanubia region. Through this investment, we would like to thank pharmacists for their trust and support them even more effectively in providing high-quality pharmaceutical care to the public,” emphasized Tamás Kaló, CEO of Phoenix Pharma Zrt.
In designing the logistics center, Phoenix prioritized efficiency along with environmental and sustainability considerations. The 5,500 square meter continuous warehouse area will be developed according to Lean principles, eliminating unnecessary product movements and optimizing the logistics processes for every box of medicine.
An automated picking system, capable of handling 1,700 products, will be installed, handling over 60% of the ordered medicines in delivery containers. To reduce CO2 emissions, a modern, fossil-fuel-free cooling and heating system will be implemented, supported by a high-performance solar panel system on the roof. The use of electric vehicles, powered by the solar system, will also be prioritized for pharmaceutical deliveries.
“The technical plans for this fully self-financed investment are complete, and the building and warehouse technology will be completed by the end of next year. Operations are scheduled to start in the first half of 2026, after regulatory approval of the warehouse. We are particularly pleased that this coincides with Phoenix Pharma Zrt.’s 30th anniversary, allowing us to present this special gift to pharmacists, who, we hope, will experience faster and more accurate service right from the start,” said Tamás Kaló.
