Slovak Construction Output Drops in January
Slovakia's construction output dropped 10% year-on-year in January, easing slightly from a revised 10.5% decline in December, which was the steepest fall in three years, figures from the Bratislava-based Central Statistical Office (SÚSR) showed on Tuesday.
This marked the second consecutive period of contraction, as domestic production decrease 8.4%, mainly weighed by new construction (-12.1%), buildings (-8%), and engineering works (-9.7%); while output increased for repair & maintenance (3.4%).
Moreover, work realized abroad plunged 25%, slipping further from a 3.4% fall in the previous month.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction output was higher by 0.1% in January.
