Latvia's Unemployment Level Grows in January

The actual unemployment level in Latvia was at 7.1% in January, 0.7 percentage points more compared to the same month last year, local media reported citing data from the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB).

The level of unemployment in January against to December remained the same and was 6.3% among women. However, among men the unemployment level went up by 0.1 percentage points, reaching 8%, the Riga-based statistics agency said.

In January there were 67,000 unemployed people in Latvia (29,000 women and 37,500 men).

This is 600 people more when compared to December and 6,500 more when compared to January 2023.

The statistical office noted that the unemployment level registered by the State Employment Agency (NVA) in January did not change and was at 5.7% of economically active residents at the end of the month.
