The newly appointed partner has participated in several successful transactions over the past eight years, including acquisitions related to the Szallas Group, the minority stake purchase in Poland’s 4FIZJO at the end of last year, and the EUR 8.5 million investment round of Coding Giants.

In addition to his previous responsibilities, Zsolt Mihály will take an active role in management and in shaping the fund manager’s strategy.

PortfoLion’s management traditionally holds staff appointments at the beginning of the year. As a result, starting this year, five investment professionals hold new titles: Richárd Rusznák as senior investment associate, Balázs Branauer and Péter Máthé as investment managers, Dániel Kiss-Király as principal, and Zsolt Mihály continuing his activities at the company in the role of partner.

Zsolt Mihály began his investment career eight years ago as an analyst at PortfoLion, later supporting the fund manager’s growth as an investment manager and then as principal.

He gained significant experience in the Private and Growth Equity fields, typically dealing with investments between EUR 4–40 million, providing growth opportunities for more mature companies. His focus is often on companies that already have a significant market share locally and aim for international expansion.

Over the years, Zsolt Mihály has led numerous successful investments and played a key role in providing strategic support to companies. He currently works with portfolio companies such as Pepita, a major player in the Hungarian e-commerce market; Codecool from the edtech sector; Poland’s Coding Giants; Finshape, a developer of banking software; and 4FIZJO, a regional e-commerce platform aiming for market leadership, whose investment was announced last December.

András Molnár, CEO of PortfoLion, praised the achievements of the promoted colleagues:
“These appointments are not only recognitions but also clear confirmations that our colleagues are heading in the right direction in their careers. We are particularly pleased about the appointment of Zsolt Mihály as partner, as over the past years he has carried out every task entrusted to him at a level characteristic of partners. Thus, this step is more of a formality – a natural acknowledgment that Zsolt is a key player in the regional private equity market and in shaping PortfoLion’s future.”

At PortfoLion, partners are not only responsible for investments but also actively participate in shaping the company’s strategy and managing the 25-person team. The partner role represents a long-term commitment to the company’s future, where strategic decision-making plays a key role.

Zsolt Mihály commented on his appointment: “On one hand, it is an honor, and on the other hand, it is a gratifying feeling when recognition comes from those who have the greatest insight into my work. I think it is likely that neither colleagues nor portfolio companies will perceive any change at the everyday level, as I have always carried out my work with the greatest dedication. As before, in the future as well, I will focus on the successes of the portfolio companies and the team.”

PortfoLion remains committed to working with, supporting, and recognizing the best investment professionals on the market, thus providing the most effective strategic support for its portfolio companies.
