New logistic strategy could raise sector's contribution to GDP

Hungary's logistic sector could increase its contribution to the GDP to 10-15% - as is typical of other European countries - from the current 8-9% through a mid-term strategy due to be finalized soon, business daily Világgazdaság said on Thursday, quoting László Duma, member of the board of the Hungarian Association of Logistics, Purchasing and Inventory Management (HALPIM). The seven-year strategy drafted by professional bodies envisages investment of HUF 12 billion per year into the sector, primarily from European Union resources, the paper said. A government resolution dated March 28 instructed the National Economy Minister to prepare a mid-term strategy for the sector, in cooperation with professional associations, by the end of May.
