The MOL Group has selected IBM’s integrated technology services to accelerate business growth and improve its efficiency, the company said in a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.

Through the IBM solution, MOL, one of the leading oil and gas conglomerates in Central and Eastern Europe can now consolidate its more than 30 cross-border purchasing processes under a single platform in Hungary, Croatia and Slovakia.

IBM is providing full infrastructure maintenance, service monitoring and multivendor support for MOL Group organizations in all three countries. Technology support includes hardware and software maintenance, Linux services and backup technical support.

“With our help in three countries, MOL Group can manage its purchasing processes in a unified, integrated system, therefore eliminating duplicate work and saving money,” said Péter Rehus, head of IBM Hungary.

“Our goal was to increase our system efficiency at a low cost and extend our petrochemical business and renew our retail business, to provide our customers with better services,” said Péter Néz, the director of the MOL Group Information Services. “In line with our earlier initiated strategy for 2030, MOL continues its business transformation to build a more uniform, faster and more flexible business model, than ever before,”

With the agreement signed for a two-year period, MOL Group says it can expect significant cost savings.
