Magyar Telekom adds Digital Welfare internet package

Awards

Magyar Telekom was the latest Friday to announce its offer of a Digital Welfare package, a low-cost government-initiated internet service package tailored for people who are still not online, according to state news wire MTI.

Fidesz MEP Tamás Deutsch, who oversees the Digital Welfare Program, said that a prerequisite for a successful digital transition is the availability of affordable infrastructure and internet services for all. Deutsch noted earlier that 1.5 million Hungarians still do not use the internet, with 14% saying they had no access for financial reasons.

Magyar Telekom will be offering two wired internet products and two mobile internet products for clients to choose from the package.

Magyar Telekom is the seventh telco in Hungary to include a Digital Welfare package among its products.
