The airline’s 1,000th flight today departed from Bacău to London Luton.
The achievement places Wizz Air among Europe’s leading airlines as it continues to expand regional connectivity and support local communities. Offering 1,000 flights per day also marks major progress in the airline’s “Customer First Compass” initiative, aimed at improving passenger satisfaction by providing more affordable and accessible travel options to an expected 75 million passengers this year.
Wizz Air now carries more than 200,000 passengers daily, with an aircraft taking off roughly every 90 seconds, strengthening connections across Europe and beyond. More than 8,000 pilots and crew members work to ensure flights depart and arrive safely. The carrier’s network links more than 200 airports in over 50 countries through more than 800 routes, contributing to economic growth, job creation, mobility and cultural exchange.
Operating one of the world’s youngest and most modern fleets, Wizz Air plans to fly exclusively Airbus A321neo aircraft by 2028. These next-generation planes operate 50% more quietly and have 20% lower fuel consumption and emissions compared to earlier models.
The milestone aligns with the airline’s ambitious W500 vision, which targets a fleet of 500 aircraft while keeping fares low and expanding its global footprint.
“The more than 1,000 flights a day is not just a number for us, but a symbol of our commitment to making air travel more accessible and affordable. It also proves the strength of our ultra-low-cost operations. This milestone is a tribute to our fantastic team and loyal passengers who have recognized the values of Wizz Air: low prices, reliable service and a constantly expanding network. We continue to focus on targeted growth, enabling travel that strengthens communities and supports economic development in the regions we serve,” said József Váradi, CEO of Wizz Air.
