According to the announcement, this will make the tariff system easier to understand and more uniform. Following the recent update, when the unified timetable search and route planning service was integrated into the railway company’s smartphone application, the integration of the two service providers continues in the MÁV application: a new optional seat reservation system valid for Volán routes also launched on Monday.
They indicated that the seat reservation ticket can be purchased not only in the MÁV application but also on the jegy.mav.hu platform, at railway and bus ticket offices, and MÁV-Start ticket machines. Tickets purchased through digital channels – such as the MÁV mobile application or the jegy.mav.hu website – are available 5% cheaper, costing only HUF 285.
They also announced that the new unified seat reservation ticket will first be available on long-distance buses departing from and arriving in Budapest, and in the next phase, it will be available between provincial cities.
Thanks to this innovation, those who purchase a seat reservation ticket can travel comfortably with a guaranteed seat even during peak times with increased passenger traffic, MÁV stated.
