Tour operator, bus company involved in major crash insured

The tour operator and bus company involved in a bus crash in Hungary early Sunday that left eight dead are insured, the managing director of both businesses confirmed for MTI on Monday.

Zoltán János Tamás, the managing director of Volmer-Tours and Tamás-busz, said the companies have policies with three different insurers. He declined to reveal the names of the companies while the accident is under investigation.

Tamás expressed his condolences to the families of the victims of the crash.

The bus, carrying more than 50 passengers returning from holiday in Croatia, crashed on the M7 motorway about 70km from Budapest early Sunday morning. It broke through a barrier, hit a pillar on an overpass, and rolled over, killing eight people and seriously injuring eight.
