The ministry said that around 3,800 businesses had submitted applications for over HUF 17.9 bln of subsidies to buy 3,500 battery electric cars and over 1,100 fully-electric light commercial vehicles.
EVs made by China’s BYD are the most popular among applicants, accounting for close to 1,200 purchases.
Businesses may apply for grants of between HUF 2.8 million and HUF 4 mln per vehicle, depending on battery capacity, in the program funded from the European Union’s REPowerEU.
The HUF 30 bln scheme runs until March 2025.
