Motor fuel price caps to apply only to locals from Friday
A HUF 480/liter price cap on motor fuel at gas stations in Hungary will apply only to vehicles with Hungarian number plates from Friday, Gergely Gulyás, the head of the Prime Minister's Office, said at a weekly press briefing on Thursday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Gulyás said cars registered abroad will pay market prices at the pump.
Gas tourism has become a "threat to supply", he said. He noted that prices at the pump in other countries in Europe are the equivalent of HUF 700-900/liter.
