The protesters gathered in their trucks at the initial section of the M3 motorway in north-east Budapest, and drove around the city causing traffic jams in several places.

The demonstration ended in Heroes’ Square at 8 p.m.

On their way, the protesters stopped at the Ministry of Construction and Transport and handed over their demands to the cabinet chief of the minister.

On Friday, the ministry said that an agreement had been reached with haulier organizations, adding that the government and hauliers saw eye to eye that international transit should be directed to motorways to increase traffic safety and reduce the inconvenience for residents.

At the weekend, the ministry voiced incomprehension concerning “individual actions ignoring the agreement, aimed to disturb the calm of the country preparing for the holidays.”
