The Danube Fairway project, implemented by six Danube countries with EUR 19 million from the European Networking Facility (CEF), has been completed, writes profitline.hu.
The National Water Directorate explained that the project, which ran from 2015 to 2021, aimed to harmonize hydrological, hydrographic, waterway and waterway maintenance tasks in Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia.
The participating countries purchased five state-of-the-art measuring vessels equipped with multi-beam sonar measuring devices, one of which went to Hungary.
With the help of these measuring vessels, critical sections for navigation, such as shallow areas and bottlenecks, are assessed every year.
