Poland Retail Trade Grows in February
Retail sales in Poland rose by 6.1% year-on-year in February, up from a 3% increase in the previous month, data released by the Warsaw-based Central Statistical Office (GUS) showed on Thursday.
Sales grew at a faster pace for motorcycles & parts (26.6% vs 22% in January 2024), solid, liquid & gaseous fuels (13.4% vs 13.1%), pharmaceuticals, cosmetics & orthopedic equipment (6.9% vs 3.8%), and others (23% vs 18.9%).
At the same time, sales rebounded for food, beverages & tobacco (1.3% vs -0.6%), while it declined at a softer pace for textiles, clothing & footwear (-11.5% vs -24.7%) and furniture & household appliances (-5.2% vs -16.8%).
On a monthly comparison basis, retail sales decline 0.9% in February, easing significantly from a 19.5% drop in the prior month.
