According to the press release, the hangar will be located between the existing Lufthansa Technik and Aeroplex of Central Europe hangars. The total cost of the construction is approximately HUF 1 bln (€ 3 mln), financed entirely by Budapest Airport.
The press release added that the project is being carried out by construction company Market Építő Zrt., owned by István Garancsi, who is said to be “tied” to Hungaryʼs Prime Minister Viktor Orbán through a “friendship rope”.
“We are pleased to see the rapid progress in the construction of the new Wizz Air hangar; every day brings us closer to the successful completion of this important development project,” said René Droese, property director for Budapest Airport, in charge of the hangar investment project. According to Droese, “the new Wizz Air hangar will also create valuable, highly skilled jobs in the entire region.”
