Customers' attention is increasingly turning to domestic vehicles, as the falling euro exchange rate and a shortage in quality vehicles from Western Europe have led to significantly fewer imported used cars being put on the market in recent months, JoAutok.hu CEO Bertalan Halász said.
Halász noted however that the domestic market cannot avoid the effects of the declining demand for cars as the economic situation worsens.
Used car sales in January-September reached 636,400, 3.9% more than in the same period a year earlier. Sales on a quarterly basis are declining, as they were at 217,000 in Q1, 211,000 in Q2, and 208,000 in Q3.
JoAutok.hu said used car sales this year could still exceed last year's record of 817,000 because of good numbers from the first half of the year.
