Adjusted retail sales volume for the EU-25 increased 2.4% year on year in September. September retail sales in Hungary rose 0.4% from August, according to seasonally- and working day-adjusted data. Retail sales totalled Ft 529.5 billion (€2.051 billion) in September at current prices. In the first nine months of 2006, retail sales increased a calendar year-adjusted 5.0% year on year in volume terms and totaled Ft 4,238.1 billion at current prices.

Retail sales volume rose 5.6% both in 2004 and 2005. In line with EU methodology, the figures do not include sales of vehicles, vehicle parts or fuel. Retail fuel sales volume rose 6.0% year on year in September and 9.4% year on year in January-September. Sales of cars and car parts were down 5.5% in September but were still up 2.7% in January-September compared to the same respective periods a year earlier. Retail sales, including cars, components and fuel, increased 2.8% year on year in September and 5.0% in January-September. (Mti-Eco)
