He said Hungarian exports of cattle to Belarus could restart soon, after some technical matters are cleared up, and he expressed hope for a partnership between Hungarian vehicle maker Raba and Belarusian peer MTZ. Szijjártó went on to state that there was opportunity for Hungarian exporters to Belarus in the food, farm technology, machinery production, drug development and construction sectors.
Belarus’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alena Kupchyna said Hungary-based pharmaceutical producers were already present in the country, while MTZ exports 1,000 tractors to Hungary annually. Kupchyna said there was room for expanded cooperation between the two countries in the areas of farm machinery and vehicle production as well as construction.
According to Kupchyna, bilateral trade between Hungary and Belarus was set to reach $250 million in 2013.
