German carmaker Daimler’s plant, located in Kecskemét, generated net revenue of € 2.1 billion in 2013 and performed a huge leap from € 900m in 2012. Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary financial director Ekkehard Philipp talked about the provisions on a press conference on Wednesday (May 28).
The factory manufactured 109,000 cars last year, Philipp said. At the end of 2013 the number of employees reached 3,200. In the first quarter of the year the number grew to 3,500 with the launch of a third shift to meet growing demand for the new CLA model, the director added. The factory is expecting to raise the number of cars produced to 145,000 by the end of this year.
