Chinese electric vehicle and battery maker BYD on Friday announced the appointment of its first dealers on the Hungarian market, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Wallis Motor, a member of the AutoWallis group, and Duna Auto will open BYD showrooms in the capital.
The two businesses are poised to become "prime hubs" for showcasing BYD's EV lineup and technologies, the company said. Hungary is an "important market" for BYD which has operated an electric bus plant in Komárom since 2017, it added.
BYD Europe managing director Michael Shu said Wallis Motor and Duna Autó have "the expertise and geographic footprint to provide outstanding customer services to Hungarian consumers".
Péter Antal, who heads AutoWallis Group's retail business unit, called the collaboration with BYD a "milestone" in AutoWallis' commitment to achieving ESG targets.
Duna Autó CEO Péter Ormos said the partnership was "a significant step" in the area of electromobility in Hungary.
