BMW brand sales in Hungary fell 5% last year, well under the close to 19% drop in overall new car sales, BMW Group Hungary officials said at an online press conference yesterday, according to origo.hu.

BMW controlled one-third of the market in the premium category, managing director Maciej Galant said. BMW sold 3,154 BMW models and 366 Mini models last year, communications director András Salgó said.

The best-selling model was the BMW 3 series, with 543 of the cars driven off showroom floors, he added. Sales of plug-in hybrids rose 32% to 545, with 187 fully-electric i3 BMWs also sold. Sales of fully-electric Mini models came to 75.
