GE Hungary partners with academy, university on intelligent lighting
GE Hungary is partnering with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics on intelligent lighting for public spaces, the local unit of General Electric said on Tuesday. The "E+grid" system is powered by solar energy, which is stored in batteries. The lighting, which uses energy-efficient LEDs, automatically adjusts to weather and traffic conditions, consuming less electricity than it generates. E+grid will be put to the test at the academy's research base high in the hills of Buda in the summer of 2014.
