Coloplast completes third phase of factory in Nyírbátor

A newly built production hall of Danish-owned medical products company Coloplast was inaugurated in Nyírbátor (265 km east of Budapest) on May 25, marking the completion of the third factory phase since the first was completed in 2007.

Jesper Grunnet-Jepsen, vice president and general manager, was joined by Executive Vice President Allan Rasmussen, members of the Hungarian management (from the units at Tatabánya and Nyírbátor), the mayor of Nyírbátor, and other partners for the opening ceremony.

As a result of the extension, the factory in Nyírbátor has grown to 63,000 square meters, including a 14,000 sqm cleanroom area, a nearly 8,000 sqm warehouse, and more than 4,000 sqm of office area. The first product line moving into the new area was SpeediCath Flex, with production up and running again after changing locations two weeks ago.

Grunnet-Jepsen explained that the expansion was to satisfy growing demand.

“To preserve our market- leader position within global ostomy and continence care, we must always be one step ahead of the market and our competitors,” he said. “The expansion of production activities is a response to increasing demand. With this third expansion, we now have the possibility to receive even more new innovative products from R&D,” he added.

Having been present in Nyírbátor for more than a decade, Coloplast now provides employment for more than 2,100 people. The Nyírbátor factory serves as a home to several continence care and wound care products from the company’s product range.
