Bridge Budapest Reaches Milestone, Refocuses

History

Bridge Budapest, the organization which aims to link the educational and entrepreneurial sectors in Hungary, says it has reached a landmark this year with an expand team of seven, all women.

“We have many tasks ahead of us, and now we have managed to reach a real milestone,” says Veronika Pistyur, CEO and co-founder of Bridge Budapest. “It took five years to understand what the word ‘bridge’ means, both in our name, and our activities. Connecting people is our true strength,” she summarizes.

Bridge Budapest works to connect the internationally competitive, value-based and forward-thinking Hungarian entrepreneur community and educational initiatives.

It says its goal is to create a country where knowledge and achievement are the basis of self-confidence, and to encourage long-term value-based thinkers from both the civil and business sectors to merge more eagerly.

Bridge Budapest’s expanded team has two main directions from now on, it says: enterprises and children.

Bridge Budapest was founded in 2013 mainly because the people behind it struggled to understand why there were so few globally successful Hungarian startups.

Building Communities

“We were dumbfounded, along with the founders of LogMeIn, Prezi and Ustream. We felt we should do much, but haven’t seen any patterns for anything similar. We decided to prove to people by telling lots of success stories that, indeed, this can be done. We also started building communities, where people could experience that, now, they are not alone anymore,” Pistyur explains.

For 2019, Bridge Budapest has created what it calls the Edison platform, which will debut this spring, and is, the organization says, a unique initiative in Hungary that helps knowledge-based, innovative participants working on preparing children for the future connect and cooperate.

One of the main scope of activities of Edison platform will be the continuing Bridge Bizniscool, launched in 2017, since when it has organized summer camps for 600 children aged 8-12. Bizniscool’s activities are targeted to reach even more children this year, with an extended curriculum.

Its experience-based entrepreneurship workshops enable children to acquire an entrepreneurial approach and to get familiar with the inner workings of an enterprise in a playful manner. These sessions encourage children to step out of common frameworks and try out what it’s like to let their creativity soar, as well as show their ideas to the world.

The aim of Bridge Budapest’s Vállalható Vállalkozás (Aware Entrepreneurs) project is to show that it is both possible and worth it to create value based on business. The aim is to demonstrate to an ever-growing audience through personal success stories that there are many valuable and likeminded companies in Hungary.

One of its goals is to kickstart initiatives that may have positive social or economic effects, with a level of cooperation as wide as possible.

The Bridge Budapest Team

Beyond CEO Veronika Pistyur, the team for 2019 includes: Nikolett Barta (in 2017 Forbes Hungary listed her among their 30 successful people under 30) and Lili Gréczy (who joined in fall 2018), project managers of Edison platform and Bridge Bizniscool; Dalma Kormos (who joined in January), communications manager; Rita Veres (named female manager of the year in 2016), strategy manager of Edison platform; Réka Matheidesz (co-founder and CEO of WAMP Design Fair for eight years) and Veronika Zana (who also leads the scholarship program), project managers of Vállalható Vállalkozás (Aware Entrepreneurs).
