According to the Hungarian Armed Forces’ Bomb Disposal Unit, passersby found a German-made anti-tank shell on the Danube bank about 100 meters from Szabadság Bridge.

Specialists transported the munition to the Hungarian Armed Forces’ central collection point, the unit said Saturday afternoon.

In a separate operation reported Saturday evening, experts removed a Hungarian-made, 8-centimeter anti-aircraft fragmentation grenade with a damaged detonator, along with three stabilizer fins, from Margaret Island.

Those items, also discovered by passersby, will be destroyed, the unit said.

Police cordoned off and evacuated areas within a radius of approximately 100 meters during each operation. All restrictions were subsequently lifted.
