The western wing of the Esterházy Castle in Fertőd (185 km northwest of Budapest) was handed over, according to profitline.hu.

President János Áder and his wife, Anita Herczegh, Minister of Justice Judit Varga, and Prince Antal Esterházy and his wife, Svetlana Esterházy, attended the handover and the opening of the exhibition.

In his speech at the handover, Attila Barcza, a Fidesz member of parliament from Sopron (210 km northwest of Budapest) and his region, emphasized that Miklós "Fényes" Esterházy was the patron through whom the castle and its surroundings earned the name "Hungarian Versailles" in the 18th century.

The cast was renovated for almost HUF 2 billion.

Producing journalism that is worthy of the name is a costly business. For 27 years, the publishers, editors and reporters of the Budapest Business Journal have striven to bring you business news that works, information that you can trust, that is factual, accurate and presented without fear or favor.

We would like to offer that same opportunity to our readers. We would like to invite you to help us deliver the quality business journalism you require. Hit our Support the BBJ button and you can choose the how much and how often you send us your contributions.
