Dániel Lőrincz Wins Young Hotelier of the Year

Hotels

The hotel sector is an extremely labor-intensive industry. Hotels need young colleagues who speak multiple languages, have excellent communication skills and have a guest-centric attitude. The Hungarian Hotel and Restaurant Association supports young talents and that’s why it launched the Young Hotelier of the Year competition this year again. Talented hotel directors, front office managers, F&B managers, reservations managers, etc. under the age of 35 could apply for the competition.

The purpose of the competition is to set role models in front of young colleagues and students and to highlight the fact that the corporate ladder can be climbed quickly when someone has humility, diligence, and love for the profession. So, this year, 12 successful young hoteliers decided to challenge themselves and show that dreams can be achieved even at the age of 30-35.

The tenders were evaluated by a jury of recognized professionals including Éva Popovits - Accor Hotels Central and Eastern European commercial director; János Parti, Marriott International Budapest Multi-property director of sales & distribution; Csaba Varga, VP of operation & HR at Danubius Hotels.

Based on the jury's decision, the best four applicants were Barbara Czilják, reservation manager, Danubius Hotels Zrt.; Dóra Rajki, director of sales & marketing Ambient Hotel&Aroma Spa, and Corso Hotel Pécs; Dániel Lőrincz, restaurant director, Ensana Grand & Thermal Hotel Margitsziget; and Botond Sikó, front office Manager, Hotel Moments Budapest.

The Young Hotelier of the Year 2023 title was awarded to Dániel Lőrincz, Ensana Grand & Thermal Hotel Margitsziget.

The winner won, among other things, EUR 1,000, consultations with the leading hoteliers, press appearances, and an invitation to the jury of the HHRA Technological Innovation of the Year 2024 competition.

This year an additional award based on audience votes was given as well. In three days, more than 5,100 valid votes were received from the supporting colleagues. The winner of the audience award is Zoltán Darabos, F&B manager, Colosseum Hotel, Mórahalom.
