Lufthansa to expand maintenance center in Budapest
German maintenance and engineering firm Lufthansa Technik AG will open a new aircraft engineering center in Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport, in addition to its current aircraft maintenance center, according to a press release issued today.
The maintenance center Lufthansa operates at the Budapest airport.
The new Budapest-based aircraft engineering services center will focus its activities around the Boeing 737 aircraft - one of the most popular types among narrow-body, medium-haul aircraft - and some general non aircraft type related support services, the press statement said.
Through the expansion, Lufthansa expects to create approximately 50 new aviation engineering jobs in the center with a range of activities that will be connected to the Boeing 737 type of narrow-body aircraft, including aircraft system engineering, trouble shooting, maintenance program management and job cards engineering.
Lufthansa Technik Project Manager Marcus Knoth expects the first recruitment process to start in July.
Additionally, Lufthansa Technik AG is planning to transfer several non-aircraft type related services to the Budapest engineering center such as aircraft engine condition monitoring, aircraft flight data and reliability data compilation and technical documentation services.
Budapest was one of four Central and South-Eastern European airports competing to host the new center offering high-value jobs to aviation engineers, the company said.
