According to the independent Hungarian news site Telex, the plan includes a new 2.8-km green‑track tram line from Szent Gellért tér to Budafoki út, scheduled for completion within three years.
The route will run along the Műegyetem rakpart and Pázmány Péter sétány, pass the ELTE campus and Infopark, and continue toward Kopaszi‑gát and BudaPart, with a future southern extension planned.
The project adds seven accessible stops, new green areas, and upgraded pedestrian and cycling infrastructure. Utility relocation will begin this fall, major construction will start in 2027, and the line is expected to open three years after contract signing.
Officials say this marks the first major technical coordination between the government and the city in a long time.
