Hegedűs-Hús develops hog feed for Iberian-style ham

Hungarian meat company Hegedűs-Hús has won a HUF 309 million European Union and state grant to develop a feed type for hogs used to make Iberian-style ham, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Plant manager Andrea Zobolyák Lajtos told MTI the grant money is covering 62% of the cost of the project which will run until the end of March 2025.

Permex-Vet is undertaking the laboratory work for the project, she added.

Hegedűs-Hús has the capacity to turn out 780 tonnes of meat product a year.

The company had net sales revenue of HUF 1.6 bln last year, public records show.
