The ministry said an earlier statement by state secretary Béla Glattfelder on restricting SZÉP card spending to recreation and commercial accommodation, rather than catering, referred to an industry proposal “that can obviously not be viewed as the government stance”. Catering accounts for about half of SZÉP card purchases at present, the ministry said.
