The program began in the first week of August and will continue through the third week of September, according to news wire MTI.
Dubbed “One Day for Budapest’s Public Safety”, it aims to strengthen public safety in the capital and improve the sense of security among residents and visitors through a visible, coordinated and preventive civil guard presence.
In the first phase, from Aug. 7-20, visiting civil guards are serving alongside their local counterparts at sites designated by police, primarily in the outer districts.
From Aug. 21-Sept. 20, they will take part in joint operations alongside police officers.
During the first weekend, 23 civil guards from Bács-Kiskun, Fejér, Heves, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, Nógrád and Pest counties performed duties in the capital.
