The Hungarian government supports the Hungarian Football Federation's bid to host the 2026 or 2027 UEFA Champions League final in Budapest, a resolution published in the latest issue of the official gazette Magyar Közlöny shows.

The Defense Ministry, which oversees the organization of big international sporting events, acknowledged the resolution in a statement issued on Thursday.

It noted that Budapest's Puskás Arena had hosted a Europa League final and a UEFA Super Cup match since its inauguration in 2019.

A decision on hosting the Champions League final in 2026 or 2027 is expected to be taken in May.

This year's UCL final is set to take place in Wembley Stadium in the United Kingdom, while Germany's Allianz Arena is set to host next year's final.
