According to the theater, the combination of a cartoon classic and live music makes for an ideal introduction to classical concert-going for younger children.
“Simba’s legendary story connects generations: this tale of friendship, courage, and coming of age resonates even more powerfully when the film’s iconic music is performed live in a symphonic arrangement,” the theater said.
“The unforgettable songs of Oscar and Grammy Award-winning Elton John and the legendary choruses of Lebo M come to life under the summer sky. The story of the African savanna, Mufasa’s legacy, Scar’s betrayal, and the friendship of Timon and Pumbaa, is presented to the audience in a magical audiovisual experience.”
The screening will start at 8 p.m. (with May 31 reserved as a rain day) and last 90 minutes. It is the culmination of a day-long celebration. On Saturday morning, May 30, the Margitsziget Theater will host its traditional Children’s Day event, welcoming young and old alike.
The program will open with a cheerful, interactive concert where even the youngest children can sing and play along. The focus of the day will be on nature conservation, the environment, animals, and creativity, featuring plenty of music, games, and exciting encounters. Visitors can discover the wonders of nature through exciting educational presentations: topics will include the unique animals of the savannas and the importance of nature conservation, presented in a playful, child-friendly format. As a special program, Ádám Farkas from the Budakeszi Wildlife Park will host an interactive animal presentation titled “The Little Heroes of Our Home.” Additional programs and tickets for the Disney film concert are available on the theater’s website.
Hungary’s Media Council has fined Duna Media Service Provider Nonprofit Zrt. (the country’s sole public service broadcaster for radio, television and new media) HUF 1.8 million for repeatedly violating rules on social‑purpose advertising by displaying the “National Consultation” caption across its TV channels between Nov. 1 and Dec. 7, 2025. The broadcaster’s executive received an additional HUF 25,000 penalty due to the repeated nature of the infringement. The council also announced the results of two radio‑frequency tenders. FM 4 Rádió Kft. won the Hatvan 87.9 MHz community license, while Best Radio Kft. retained the Nyíregyháza 103.9 MHz commercial frequency. In each case, there was only one bidder.
