The capital city's drinking water network will be partially renewed with the aid of HUF 20 billion from the European Union, announced Deputy Mayor of Budapest Kata Tüttő, who is responsible for city operations, according to profitline.hu.

She said at a press conference held at the Budapest site of the Capital Water Works that this is the most significant investment in decades to improve drinking water quality in Budapest, where there are still lead pipes in some places.

With the help of the program, they can replace 3,000 such connections, she added.
