Orbán fires five, warns against complacency

Government

Heads were rolling at the Fidesz caucus in Visegrád on Wednesday evening, with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán dismissing five constituency leaders for poor performance.

Orbán went on to warn his fellow party members of the dangers of complacency, reminding them of the upset defeat in the 2002 elections which saw the then-Fidesz government ousted from its parliamentary majority.

While predicting a defeat for the left wing because “they are unable to make the most of their opportunities,” Orbán stated that utility-rate cuts would be the most important theme in the Fidesz-KDNP platform for the 2014 election.
