Budapest has begun a full renovation of Madách tér, including the complete rebuilding of the Madách Imre út section between Rumbach Sebestyén utca and Asbóth utca.

The roadway and sidewalk will be placed on one level and the intersection is also being redesigned for accessibility.

The project will add 15 new trees and expand green space by 160 sqm, with construction planned to finish within 120 days.

In parallel, the city will also renew Örs vezér tere, one of Budapest’s busiest transport hubs used by tens of thousands of people daily, with the first visible changes expected by summer.

Plans include clearer pedestrian links between the HÉV, BKK stops, the Sugár shopping center, and Ikea, as well as the creation of more open space. The redesign will introduce a new drinking fountain, improved cycling routes, fixed seating, and a public safety point.
