Budapest Airport halts departures due to IT failure
Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport halted all departures this morning at Terminal 2, its only passenger terminal, due to IT failure, operator Budapest Airport said in a short announcement on its official Facebook page at 5:42 in the morning.
An update at 06:41 revealed that the airport was “still working on troubleshooting”. Hungarian online daily origo.hu reported that masses of passengers keep lining up in front of the check-in desks as check-in service has also been halted.
Citing the airport’s spokesperson, online daily index.hu reported at six in the morning that it was yet unsure when planes could depart.
A reader of index.hu said that according to information available at the scene, the planes are ready, however gates cannot be opened at the terminal, therefore planes cannot be boarded.
Origo.hu reported that the airport keeps receiving arriving flights as usual.
