Air France plane returns to Budapest on suspicion of fire
Pilots of an Air France Airbus A319-100 aircraft encountered smoke and fumes in the cockpit, donned their oxygen masks, declared Mayday and requested an immediate return to Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport yesterday morning, The Aviation Herald reported late yesterday.
The plane landed safely with all 136 people on board unharmed approximately 23 minutes after departure. Once landed, the crew found that there was no fire on the aircraft but maintenance identified a faulty display as the source of the fumes and smoke, The Daily Herald reported.
The aircraft was able to depart about four hours after landing and reached Paris with a delay of 4.5 hours, the report added.
