KSH: Farm gate prices fall 6.8%

Hungary’s farm gate prices fell by a year-on-year 6.8% in November; prices of crops fell by 8.3%, while prices of livestock and animal products were down 4.5%, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported today.

Similar to the CPI figures published yesterday, prices fell in the case of grain (6.7%), industrial crops (6.9%), oil seeds (2.5%) and potatoes (44.5%). Prices of fresh vegetables rose by 9.7%, while fruit prices fell by 28.9%.

Live cattle prices fell by 10.1%, hog prices were down 9.4% and poultry prices were down 3.5%. Although egg prices rose by 13.2%, milk prices fell by 4.7%. In fact, the farm gate price of milk has been falling steadily since peaking at HUF 114 a liter in February 2014, KSH added.
