GVH has started preparations and could launch the probe before the end of this month, GVH president Csaba Balázs Rigó told a meeting of Parliament's tourism subcommittee on Tuesday.

The probe will take a maximum of 30 days, which can be extended. The result of the probe will include specific proposals, Rigó said.

Fidesz MP Kristóf Szatmáry said the subcommittee is investigating what steps are needed to prevent this, a large multinational company accumulating "several billion forints of debts", "abusing its scale and dominant market position", from happening again.

The Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ) has offered legal assistance to the tourism accommodation operators concerned, Anikó Suhajda-Molnár, deputy CEO of MTÜ said.
