The survey found that 37% of business sector employees worked from home in May 2021 due to pandemic-related restrictions. Of all business employees, 30% indicated that they plan to continue telecommuting part of the time or full time. 

In the economy as a whole, 16% of all employees and 20% of white-collar workers worked from home in May. Of them, 14% and 16%, respectively, said they would continue WFH after the restrictions are lifted. Among public-sector employees, 7% worked from home in May, of whom 6% will carry on telecommuting. 

One-quarter of telecommuting respondents said they would be WFH five days a week after the pandemic, 10% said four days, and 28% said three days. Around 7% will telecommute one day a week and 30% two days. GKI said expectations are that close to 15% of current office areas could remain unutilized.
