In a video message posted on Facebook, Orbán said "several thousand" refugees a day from the war in Ukraine are entering Hungary at Csengersima after traveling through Romania.
"Transit is continuous through the six lanes. Police forces are working at full tilt. Everything is going smoothly, and people from the Red Cross are offering assistance to the children, giving them food and drink," he said.
"We expect a bigger wave in the coming week, which is why we have to beef up this border crossing. More people will work here," he added.
"On the basis of the degree of order now, I believe that if we strengthen this border crossing, we'll be able to work just as efficiently next week, too," Orbán said.
