"The extraordinary NATO meeting is over. The intentions of the Finns and the Swedes to join [the alliance] were discussed, on which we took a positive position, as we have always voiced an open door policy," Szijjártó said in a post on Facebook.
"Today, everybody was very enthusiastic about NATO enlargement, but Turkey's views must be taken into account and a final decision may only be taken unanimously," he added.
Earlier Sunday, during a break at the meeting, Szijjártó told journalists that the most important factor for Hungary, as a neighbor to Ukraine, is that the war does not extend further. It's "especially good news", he added, that this is "crystalizing as the common stand of the alliance's biggest members".
