The Michelin Key was introduced in Hungary in 2025, when Hotel Clark was among the first hotels in the country to receive the recognition. The hotel described retaining the distinction in 2026 as an important milestone and recognition of the character and consistency it has continued to build.
The Michelin Guide evaluates hotels through five key elements: architecture and design; quality and consistency of service; individuality and sense of place; value for the experience; and the way a hotel opens a door to its destination.
Hotel Clark’s approach centers on the combination of architecture and design, personal service, atmosphere, food and drink, cultural connections and location. According to the hotel, these elements work together to create an experience that offers guests both comfort and discovery.
Located beside the Danube and overlooking the Chain Bridge, Hotel Clark has a strong connection to Budapest. Its contemporary architecture and interiors establish a distinctive visual identity, while its location places guests within one of the city’s most recognizable settings. The hotel has also developed initiatives designed to connect the guest experience with the cultural and creative life of the city.
Art as Part of the Hotel Experience
One of the ways Hotel Clark Budapest has developed this identity is through its commitment to contemporary art.
Art Corner by Clark & Leo, the hotel’s contemporary art initiative founded in 2021, brings the work of contemporary artists into the hotel, connecting art, hospitality and the city.
Art Corner has become part of the wider experience of staying at Hotel Clark. Guests encounter artworks as they move through the hotel lobby and Leo Bistro, located on the ground floor, making art part of the everyday hotel environment.
For Hotel Clark, the initiative also provides an opportunity to engage directly with Budapest’s contemporary creative scene. Each exhibition brings a different artistic perspective into the hotel, allowing the environment to evolve while maintaining its underlying identity.
The hotel said its 10th Art Corner exhibition was scheduled to open in September, marking a milestone for the initiative. Since its launch in 2021, Art Corner has provided a platform for contemporary artists while making their work an increasingly visible part of the hotel experience.
The exhibition, “Lobbysm” by Miklós Kiss, known as kissmiklos, reflects the hotel’s ambition to continue developing its original concept through new experiences and cultural connections.
Retaining the One Michelin Key for a second consecutive year recognizes that continuing development, according to the hotel.
