The early hours of Tuesday brought no relief from the heat in Budapest.
The temperature did not drop below 25 degrees Celsius on the János Hill weather station during the coolest moments of the night, breaking the capital’s record for the highest minimum temperature on this day.
The earlier record, 24.2 degrees, was recorded in Lágymányos in 2017. The heat intensified during the day on Tuesday, and in the afternoon the previous record for the highest maximum temperature in the capital was reached.
A temperature of 37.9 C was recorded in Újpest, exactly the same as on the same day of 1921 at the Gellérthegy and Országút stations.
